Getting started

1. Post your first notice

  1. Go to Settings → Apps → Dashboard Notices (Jira admins), or Apps → Dashboard Notices if a Jira admin made you a notice editor.
  2. Click New notice, or start from a template (release, maintenance, outage, resolved, holiday hours, welcome).
  3. Write a title and message. Use the toolbar for headings, lists, tables, bold, code and links, or Image to upload a picture (it is resized and stored in the app).
  4. Pick when it shows, who sees it (everyone or chosen Jira groups) and, optionally, channels.
  5. Click Publish.

2. Add the widget to a dashboard

  1. Open a Jira dashboard and click Edit.
  2. Add Dashboard Notices from the widget (or gadget) list.
  3. In the widget settings, choose the channels to follow. Leave it empty to show every notice.
  4. Save. Everyone who opens the dashboard sees the notices meant for them.

3. Maintenance windows and countdowns

Give a notice a start and end time for a maintenance window, or a countdown target for a release. Each viewer sees the times in their own time zone and language, and the notice switches from "coming up" to "in progress" to gone on its own.

4. Let others post

In the admin page settings, add notice editor groups. People in those groups can post and edit notices from the Apps menu. Only Jira admins can change settings and channels.

5. Check setup

Click Check setup in the admin page. It tests storage, the subscription, group targeting and channels, and tells you what to fix.
