Comment Defaults for Jira
Make internal Jira comments private by default — restricted to a role or group automatically, so nothing leaks to customers or guests.
In Jira Cloud every new comment is visible to everyone who can see the issue, unless the author remembers to pick a role or group each time. One forgotten click, and an internal note reaches a client, a contractor or a guest. Comment Defaults sets the default for you.
What you get
- Rules by project, issue type and author group: "comments in the ACME project are visible to Developers only", "comments by the contractors group are visible to the Contractors group".
- Safety net: every new comment, from the web, mobile, email, the REST API or automation, is checked and restricted within seconds. An hourly check catches anything that slipped through.
- Restricted comment composer on the issue: write a comment that is restricted from the moment it exists, so it never appears in anyone else's notifications. If you @mention someone outside the chosen role or group, it warns you before posting.
- Dry run: see what the rules would do before they change anything.
- Log: every restricted comment, which rule did it and how long it was visible, exportable as CSV.
- Check setup: shows, per project, whether the app may edit comments and is in the roles it restricts to, and adds the app to a missing role in one click.
