Getting started

Install

1. In Confluence, open Apps → Explore more apps and search for Announcement Banners & Read Confirmations.
2. Click Get app and follow the steps. Confluence admins install apps for the whole site.

Your first banner (about 30 seconds)

1. Open Settings (⚙) → Apps → Notice Banners.
2. Pick a template — Maintenance, Read & confirm, Incident, Welcome — or start blank.
3. Choose a design and a tone. The preview shows exactly what people will see.
4. Under When, leave the dates empty to start now, or set a start and end. Tick Repeat every week for regular windows.
5. Under Who sees it, leave everything empty for all members, or pick spaces, groups, page labels or specific pages (paste their links). Only admins of the space shows it just to the admins of the space someone is in.
6. Click Publish. People see it on their next page view.

Writing the message

• **bold** makes text bold.
• [link text](https://example.com) adds a link. Confluence asks before opening sites outside Confluence.
• Links can also point inside Confluence: a page path such as [Leave policy](/wiki/spaces/HR/pages/123), or a heading on the current page such as [Rules](#Rules). These open in the same tab.
• Line breaks are kept.

Design and color

Pick one of 12 designs and a tone (Info, Heads-up, Urgent, News), or choose Brand color to use your own color in any design. Text stays readable on light colors, and very pale colors are refused because they wouldn't show on a white page.

Your own templates

Click Save as template under any banner. It keeps the text, design, color, audience, repeat and confirmation settings — not the dates — and appears under Your templates when you start a new banner. Site admins and each space keep their own templates.

Closing and confirming

• By default people can close a banner with ✕. Choose After someone closes it, show it again to bring it back after a day, a week or 30 days.
• Turn on Ask readers to confirm with a "Got it" button to track who read it. Urgent banners always ask.
• A Confirm by date shows on the banner; after it passes, the banner turns urgent for everyone who hasn't confirmed.

Space admins

Space admins find the app in Space settings → Integrations → Notice Banners and can post banners that show only in their space. A Confluence admin can turn this off in the app's site settings.

Something not working?

Open 🩺 Check setup at the bottom of the app's sidebar. It tries storage, the subscription, spaces, groups, page labels and people's names, and says in plain words what to fix.

Coming from Data Center

Start a new banner, choose Import from Data Center, paste everything from the Announcement box of Announcement Banner for Confluence and click Convert. Text, bold and links come across; scripts and custom CSS are left out, and you choose one of the 12 designs instead.

Guests and anonymous visitors

Choose Everyone or Visitors only under Who sees it. Visitors' "closed" choices are kept in their own browser; nothing about them is stored by the app.
